2019-10-25
The 15th World Wushu Championship was held in Shanghai Minhang stadium from October 19th to 23rd, 2019, attracted 587 athletes from 89 countries. Invited by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF), China Anti-Doping Agency (CHINADA), jointly with the Shanghai Sports Bureau and the Organizing Committee of the Shanghai World Wushu Championship, launched an anti-doping education outreach program during the event, reaching out to 370 people so far. It is the first time that IWUF has held a hand with a National Anti-Doping Organization to carry out outreach activities in an international competition.
Chinese Model of Anti-Doping Outreach Program has been applied in this event. Through taking WADA anti-doping quiz and watching doping control process videos, athletes and athlete support personnel learned anti-doping knowledge and improved their awareness. In addition, infotainment activities such as "Puzzle " and " Bottle flip ", were introduced here so that athletes could learn about the concept of "Win Clean Medals" and "Chinese sports spirit" in a relaxing atmosphere. Moreover, athletes can sign their names on the board and take photos to show their commitment.
This outreach program, in accordance with Wushu spirit, is warmly welcomed and highly praised by both athletes and IWUF. One of main themes for nowadays anti-doping work is cooperation. CHINADA will play a more active role in promoting international exchange and cooperation. More cooperation between CHINADA and IFs is expected to be seen in the near future.
