WADA President Visits CHINADA

Sir Craige Reedie, President of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) pays a visit to China Anti-Doping Agency (CHINADA) located in Beijing on 19th August 2015, right a few days leading up to the opening of the 2015 IAAF World Championships.

Sir Craige Reedie’s visit is warmly welcomed by the CHINADA team. A meeting was arranged between the two sides. Mr. TIAN Ye, Director General of CHINADA hosted the meeting. He extended his appreciation to Sir Reedie for his visit and applauded for WADA’s achievements in the fight against Doping with Reedie’s leadership.

Mr. ZHAO Jian, the Deputy Director General of CHINADA gave the WADA President an introduction on CHINADA. He presented Reedie with a full picture of his Agency, and mentioned CHINADA’s preparation for the Anti-Doping work of the upcoming 2015 IAAF World Championships.

The President is very impressed by CHINADA’s work, and is especially glad to hear that good cooperation is maintained between IAAF and CHINADA for the Championships.

After the meeting on 19th, Sir Craige Reedie met briefly with Chinese media waiting onsite. He told the media that, quote CHINADA “is one of the best Anti-Doping Organizations that we know”, and believes that “CHINADA has been very, very helpful to IAAF”.

For Anti-Doping Educational program for the Championships, the President is very impressed that 3 Athlete Outreach Booths are set up in all the 3 athlete hotels. He said the Athlete Outreach program will educate young Track and Field athletes that clean sport is important and that we are doing our best to protect them. 

On 20th August, Sir Reedie visited the Athlete Outreach Booth in the Beijing Conference Center. He watched with interest athletes doing the Anti-Doping Quiz on computer, interacted with some of them and signed the Say No! to Doping Board.
